Skin rashes are more common than the majority of people may know, and there are also a lot of different kinds of itchy skin rashes. In case you have a rash and it is also itchy, the first step you have to take is to find out the kind of rash that you are faced with.

1. Psoriasis

This is a chronic health problem, which is triggered by changes in some of the cells of the immune system, and so they start attacking the normal skin cells. If you have this condition, you will see silvery scales on a red background. Usually it appears on the elbows, knees and scalp.

2. Pityriasis Rosea

This is another common skin rash that is itchy. Its appearance is different from all the other rashes. At the beginning you will see one patch on the trunk, and then the rash extends all over the trunk. You can get rid of it in about 6-8 weeks, but it is very itchy.

3. Poison ivy

This skin rash that is itchy is also known as rhus dermatitis. The cause of this condition is a resin, urushiol, which you can find in some of the plants, such as poison ivy, sumac and oak. At the beginning you will experience redness and blisters, but the condition can be treated with topical creams.

4. Chicken pox

There is no person in the world that doesn’t know this skin rash that is itchy. The condition is caused by the virus known as varicella. The truth is that less and less people get the condition since the vaccine has been introduced.

In case a pregnant woman gets this one of the itchy skin rashes, she needs special treatment through medication. If a person gets chicken pox, he or she is likely to have shingles later in life.

5. Scabies

Believe it or not, this skin rash that is itchy is caused by a mite that can get under the skin. You will experience having red bumps and these can usually be found at wrists, armpits, fingers or the waist. To treat the rash you need to use a lotion, that kills the mite, but it takes about a month for the rash to disappear.

6. Eczema

Eczema is one of the itchy skin rashes that look very much like allergies. At this point the causes of the rash aren’t known, but professionals believe that it has something to do with the abnormalities of the skin, that make the skin dry.

7. Hives

The most important thing you need to know about this skin rash that is itchy is that it can evolve in the matter of hours or even minutes. There are two kinds of hives, based on the time period that they last: acute hives and chronic hives. The two kinds can be triggered by different external factors.

There are numerous itchy skin rashes that you have to keep an eye out for, but it’s not the end of the world if you contact them.

The best solution you can find to any problem in life is one that prevents the problem from happening in the first place. Splotchy skin is something that many men and women deal with on a regular basis, but there are actually a few nutrients you can use to make sure your skin always stays healthy.

When you use healthy ingredients in your skin care process, there is no reason for your skin to ever have any major problems that are worth complaining about.

Everyone eventually gets sick and tired of their dried out, splotchy skin because sometimes it seems that nothing will be able to help your skin heal itself. You can use plenty of skin care products that promise to provide you with long term results, but most of them are made from harmful ingredients that only make your problems worse.

In fact, most of the top dermatologists have to actually recommend that you don’t use most of the skin care products that are on the market today.

The best way to make sure you skin stays as healthy as possible is to give it nourishing nutrients that most people have never even heard of. Most people never think about using healthy nutrients to heal their skin, but the idea really makes sense when you sit down and think about it. It’s a pretty simple idea that applies the same logic you use on your diet to the nutrients that you are putting into your skin.

How to avoid splotchy skin

Like many other problems, stress, a lack of exercise and junk food all contribute to the growing skin problems that are found around the world.

The best thing you can do to fight splotchy skin and make sure your problems never become too severe is to use some natural nutrients to fight dryness and return your skin back to its youthful glow. Most people need to use a lot of healthy nutrients to fight all the damage their lifestyles have done to their skin over time.

Phytessence wakame is one of the best things you can use to heal your skin and this has been a well-kept secret for many years in Japan.

Phytessence wakame is actually a Japanese sea kelp that is known to nourish the skin with plenty of vitamins and minerals that it desperately needs on a regular basis. In addition to providing nutrition to your skin, this sea kelp is also able to prevent UV rays from causing too much damage to your skin.

Slow down the aging process

In addition to fighting against splotchy skin, most nutrients for your skin will also be able to fight against the aging process. This is something that pretty much everyone is interested in because no one likes the idea of getting old and grey.

Although it is a reality that everyone has to face if they are lucky enough to live a long period of time, most people like to think that they will never get old and they will always look young.

Developing a dry skin rash is one of the worst things you can allow your body to do because these things will not go away quickly. These rashes help show people why it is so important to keep your skin moisturized and healthy, and no one should ever have to deal with the annoyances of dry skin. There are many different things that could go into the causes behind dry skin, and some of the factors are more obvious than others.

One of the more obvious reasons that you may develop a dry skin rash is that you are not getting enough fluids in your body on a regular basis. When your body becomes dehydrated, it becomes hard for your skin to stay silky and smooth. To get some moisture back into your body, you should try and drink at least five or six tall glasses of water every day.

Anyone who wants to rid themselves of their skin problems should have no problem finding a solution because there are plenty of different ways one can improve the health of their skin.

Plenty of skin care products are sold for the very reason of moisturizing skin, so that’s one place where you can start looking for solutions.

A healthy body will also rarely have skin problems, so a change in what you eat and how much you exercise could be another solution.

Possible causes of your dry skin rash

When dehydration or other personal habits are not the main cause of your dry skin rash, you are probably dealing with some kind of allergic reaction. If your dry skin is accompanied by a need to constantly scratch the affected areas, you can probably go ahead and put your money on some kind of allergic reaction being the main culprit behind your skin problems.

It can be very hard to avoid scratching your skin in these kinds of situations, but you have to refrain from scratching if you want your skin to become healthy again.

The best thing you can do to help slow down that itchy feeling on your skin is to use hypoallergenic ointments. These creams and lotions will help to cool down your skin and make the itchy feeling on your body much more tolerable. In some cases, the ointment is all you need to help your skin get back to normal and relive yourself of that annoying, uneasy feeling on your skin.

The source of your allergic reaction

Finding the main source of your dry skin rash can be quite a cumbersome take, but you can usually find out the culprit eventually through process of elimination. Think about the pets you have or have come into contact lately because animals are usually the cause behind an allergic reaction that comes with dry skin.

Perhaps you should refrain from going over to a friend’s house if it turns out you are allergic to their cat or dog.

There are plenty of different types of rashes that can form on babies these days, and some of them will cause the parents to become quite alarmed. When you notice a baby skin rash on your child, make sure to get it checked out just in case it is something serious. It will hopefully be nothing to be scared of, but you can never be too careful when you are talking about your kid.

Cradle cap is a type of baby skin rash where you will see what looks like pimples on top of a baby’s head, combined with yellow flakes that seem to come right off. You may also see this type of rash on other parts of the baby’s head, but most of the damage will be found on the scalp.

This type of rash will usually go away after the sixth month of the baby’s life, and it is not something that you will have to worry about for very long.

The reason for this rash, according to most dermatologists, is the transfer of highly active hormones from the mother to the child during the weeks before the child is born.

This leads to too much activity going on within the skin of the baby.

The end result is that the baby will start producing more skin cells than it needs, which means the old ones will be knocked out before they have been around very long.

What to do with this type of baby skin rash

If your child has come down with the baby skin rash on top of their head, there are a few courses of action you can take. First, you should get the rash checked out by a doctor to make sure that it is nothing more serious. Secondly, you need to realize that you actually have nothing to worry about as most doctors recommend doing nothing to the child’s head.

Some people prefer to do nothing about the rash on the child’s scalp, but others prefer to get rid of it as soon as possible. Although it won’t cause any real problems for the child, it will still cause obvious discomfort and red, raw rashes on the top of the baby’s head. The best treatment for this kind of rash is to apply a solid amount of baby oil to the affected regions about a half an hour before you give the child a bath.

The heat rash can be quite a problem

Another type of baby skin rash that has been known to cause some trouble is known as a heat rash. This type of rash can be identified when you see small blisters on the body of the baby that are filled with sweat. This problem occurs when the baby is producing too much sweat and the pores are becoming blocked.

The reason babies seem to get this rash more than any other age group is because their sweat glands may not be fully developed at their young age. To treat this type of rash, you can use simple rash treatments found in your home, such as calamine lotion.

Pretty much all types of skin rashes are caused by some irritation on the skin, and they will mostly come in the form of red bumps in various parts of the body. The affected area is likely to become rather irritated, and the skin may even become itchy, bumpy and swollen. Most skin rashes are not contagious, but there are a select few that can be caught by other people who are around you.

There are many different factors that go into the causation behind different types of skin rashes, and the reason for rash development could be anything from an allergic reaction to food to just having too much dust in the air. People usually first find out they are allergic to something after breaking out with a rash after coming into contact with it.

Some rashes come from a simple case of dry skin, while other breakouts can be attributed to more serious factors.

Rashes can become infected, so you definitely want to get a rash checked out by a doctor if things start getting a bit too serious. While a rash will usually go away in a few days for most people, there are definitely cases where the rash is a symptom of a more serious problem. For infections that are left untreated, fungus can actually begin to grow on your skin and start to take over the rest of your body.

Types of skin rashes you need to know about

Of all the types of skin rashes that can be found on the general public today, dry skin rashes are definitely the most common type of rash that is seen. Anyone who knows that they always have dry skin should keep an eye out for rash development because dry skin is the perfect environment for rashes to start spreading.

When your skin is always dry, it can easily become irritated by even simple factors such as rather cold weather.

There are ways to keep your skin a little less dry, so try to make sure to do all you can to improve the health of your skin. Make sure to drink plenty of fluids throughout the day, as dry skin can sometimes be a sign that you are simply not drinking enough water. While there are plenty of different causes of skin rashes out there, most of them are actually a hereditary problem.

The standard rash treatment

There are some standard things people who suffer from different types of skin rashes can do to try and prevent their rashes from appearing and coming back to haunt them again. Those of you with dry skin should try to shorten your showers as much as possible, especially if you are taking rather hot showers. You should use somewhat warm water because it will help to moisturize your skin.

Soaps can also tend to dry out the skin, so try to use some kind of non-soap cleanser if possible. You should also make sure that you apply some kind of moisturizer after each shower to make sure your skin doesn’t dry out afterwards.

One form of a skin rash is contact dermatitis. This appears when one touches something that was previously contaminated or does not suit the body chemistry. Eczema is a skin problem often experienced by those with allergies and asthma. Sebhoric dermatitis causes flaky skin. If it happens in the scalp, it is called dandruff.

Skin rashes are very complex in nature. Each condition is connected with certain problems. Simple problems can be caused by allergies on certain detergents, foods, perfumes, soaps, plants, and more. Others are triggered by other diseases like chicken pox, measles, shingles, hand and foot disease, and others. If the medical condition is considered severe, then you may be advised to undergo skin biopsy to rule out diseases like cancer.

Even simple actions like contact to flowers and bites from insects can cause skin rashes. Some have allergic reactions with metallic substances like nickel and silver, a condition called contact dermatitis. All of these can cause your skin to breakout. If you experience breakout on the skin after contact with this elements stay away from them completely.

Treating Skin Rashes

Today, there are vaccinations available that can cure diseases that could cause rashes. However, prevention is still the best remedy. Maintaining good personal hygiene is effective in preventing certain diseases.

Once you are affected with skin rashes, find out what substance or medicines you have contacted before the break out, and avoid these items to prevent further problems.

As much as possible, go away with over-the-counter medications except those that can treat very basic skin problems. Ask professional advice and follow the required medication, as it is necessary to eliminate the root cause of the problem.

Cream or lotion applications are most commonly used to alleviate the problem of skin rashes. In severe cases, antibiotics could be prescribed by doctors.

To minimize the effect of the rashes, you might need to keep basic medicines and first-aid kit on your medicine cabinet. This is a simple way to prevent the rashes to become a bigger problem.

Skin rashes can make you feel uncomfortable especially if you keep on scratching your skin. You can also be too sensitive as many people would stare at your swollen, red skin.

This is the reason why you want to get rid of the rashes as soon as you can. Immediately apply the right ointment or first aid method and visit your doctor as soon as possible.

Viral rashes are the most common rashes, which appears suddenly and most often in children.

A virus causes the rashes and therefore treatment should not be taken lightly, however, rarely these viral rashes lead to the emergency room.

Here are tips on how to prevent such viral skin rashes.

Viral rashes can be the cause of many viruses, namely chicken pox, fifth disease, roseola, coxsackle and insect bites, impetigo and ringworm. The symptoms of such viruses are the result of your body trying to fight the virus with minimum damage.

As always, getting proper vaccinations (where applicable), is the first step towards preventing such viral rashes. However, even if such steps have been taken, there is no guarantee that these rashes won’t occur.

Chickenpox. The most obvious way of preventing this is by making sure that you are properly vaccinated.

This disease has an immediate association with childhood illnesses; however adults are not immune and should be aware during their physical contact to ensure that their vaccinations are up to date.

Fifth Disease is a viral disease with symptoms of red cheeks, a red bumpy rash, which can be found on the chest, abdomen and back but can also extend to the limbs. It tends to fluctuate with the weather with sun exposure making the rash flare up.

In 25% of cases, it is accompanied by a fever and mild cold symptoms such as coughing and headaches can also occur. The virus is transmitted from a cough, runny nose or saliva. With adults especially women, joint pain and fever can also be found.

Therefore it is imperative to make sure that proper cleanliness is active such as washing your hands often and effectively, covering your mouth (with your elbow) when coughing, as well as making sure that you properly dispose of your used Kleenex.

Using anti-bacterial lotion such as Purell and keeping it with you in your wallet or purse is handy way to make sure that you are clean especially when a sink is nowhere to be found.

Good news, however, the vast majorities of adults has been already exposed to this at some point in their lives and now, are immune to it. Pregnant women as always should take extra precaution.

As always, when you have a rash, it’s best to consult your health care practitioner to ensure that everything is on the right track. Most rashes last for weeks, and runs its course. However if you feel that it’s bothersome, there is nothing wrong with giving your MD a quick call.

Skin infection refers to the disease or inflammation of the skin. These can develop as dry flaky rounds or itchy and red rashes. [Skin Rash Types]

Bacteria, viral illnesses, fungi, yeast, and parasites cause skin infections.

The most common skin infections are cellulitis, erysipelas, and impetigo (pyoderma).

Cellulitis is a dangerous spreading skin infection that starts developing as a skin disease with swelling, pain and redness.

This generally affects the deeper layers and is usually caused by S. aureus and a group A streptococcus. In children, Haemophilus influenzae type B causes this infection.

It is found that painful and fastly growing area of redness on the skin that surrounds with a broken skin is the main indication of cellulitis. Mostly, the lymph nodes near the infection area become expand and red streaks may appear away from the infected area.

Erysipelas is a type of cellulitis, a bacterial skin infection of the top layers of the skin. This infection can develop among children and adults.

The most common cause of this skin disease in adults is Group A streptococcal bacteria whereas Hemophilus influenza bacteria is the most common cause in children.

Erysipelas appears as a dark red, swollen, warm, shiny patch with noticeable borders. It mostly develops on the face; however, it also appears most commonly on the lower extremities where lymphatic system obstructs.

Impetigo is another common transmittable skin infection caused by streptococcus and staphylococcus. This infection mostly develops in young children. It develops mostly on exterior body parts such as the hands, feet, and legs.

It appears as reddish sores that generally blister to produce a yellow-brown fluid, which dries and forms a thick, honey-colored layer. These sores usually cause itching.

Impetigo spreads easily due to warm temperatures, poor hygiene, wetness, and packed living environment. Impetigo, similar to cellulitis and erysipelas, can be treated easily, but needs a careful physician’s attention.

The skin infection can spread easily among people by sharing belongings such as towels, bed linens, or clothes. It can also develop with the exposure of affected skin to aqueous environments. Even contaminated objects can spread infections to the skin.

Usage of immunosuppressive or corticosteroid medications also increase the chances of developing skin infections.

Skin redness or inflammation that rapidly grows in size and extends as well characterizes the skin infections. You may also experience burning sensation over the affected area.

The person may also suffer with fever, muscle pains, nausea and vomiting, frequent urination at nights (nocturia). Sometimes, burning sensation also occurs while urinating.

The skin infections can be treated easily with several methods. The removal of foreign organisms from the body is most essential task in treating these infections.

It can be treated with an antibiotic ointment by applying four times a day. Even, antifungal medications help treat skin infections. Antibacterial soaps, and systemic antibiotics also control skin infections.

Also, apply warm, moist compacts or compresses to the affected areas, as it helps the body to fight against the foreign organism infection by improving the blood supply to the tissues.

Now a days itchy skin rash has become one of the most common problems where some are simple and the other may be life threatening.

An area of inflamed and irritated skin is called rash. Itching, swelling, and redness are the characteristics of rash.

It is also important to know that the chemicals and ingredients that are used in skin care products can sometimes be the source of itchy skin rash.

There are many types of skin rashes. Dermatitis is the common rash characterized by inflammation, itching, redness, swelling, blistering, etc. Dermatitis is also called as eczema.

There are different forms of dermatitis that cause itchy skin rash. The most common form of dermatitis is atopic dermatitis.

Atopic dermatitis (atopic eczema) is characterized by distinctive phenomena of atopy (hypersensitivity to environmental allergens) including infantile and flexural eczema.

This affects 10-15 percent of children, but improves later in the childhood. This is hereditary as genetics play a major role in this type of dermatitis, for example asthma.

Contact dermatitis is another form of dermatitis. Contact dermatitis is a localized skin rash, resulting from exposure to some irritating substances or allergens. Depending on the skin exposure, it is classified as irritant contact dermatitis and allergic contact dermatitis.

Seborrheic dermatitis is a scaly macular eruption, which occurs mainly on the face, scalp, behind the ears, and in the other areas of increased sebaceous gland secretion. This seborrheic dermatitis is characterized by waxy scales and reddened skin.

Hand eczema is limited to hands only. This occurs because of exposure to strong detergents or frequent washing. Sometimes hand eczema is also caused by latex.

Asteatotic eczema is an eczema that dries the skin and causes fine cracks on the skin. This usually affects the lower extremities where the oil glands are few. This eczema usually occurs during winter months.

Dermatitis herpetiformis also causes itchy skin rash that usually affect the outer aspects of the elbows and knees, across the shoulders, and the buttocks. If the rash is mild, it is limited to the affected area and if the rash is severe enough then it is widespread.

Nummular eczema is characterized by discrete coin-shaped patches, which can affect at any age, but most commonly seen after 60 years. The cause of this is unknown.

Stasis dermatitis is dermatitis with itchy skin rash that usually affects the lower extremities (calves, ankles, feet) in the people who has poor blood circulation in the legs. This is characterized by leg swelling, skin redness, weeping sores, red bumps, etc.

Lichen simplex chronicus is a form of dermatitis, which is caused by repeat scratching or rubbing of the skin in one location.

The itchy skin rash that occurs in infants or toddlers is diaper dermatitis. There are other types of skin rashes that can affect the infant during the first few weeks of life. Impetigo, scarlet fever, miliaria rubra, etc are some of the skin diseases seen in young children.

It is better to try natural remedies for itchy skin rashes. Also, it is important to see doctor for appropriate diagnosis.
