You knew before you set off today that you would have a disaster waiting for you at some point on your big day, and here it is, one large bright red pimple.
Now you can either panic, or keep reading to find out how to get rid of pimples before it can do any more damage.
Steps to get rid of a pimple quickly
1.) The urge may be strong, but whatever you do, not pinch, pick, or pop your pimple. Yes it is staring at you with a snare, but if you take any of the above actions it will only become even more irritated leaving you with a redder brighter inflammation to deal with.
Even worse, when you break the skin of a pimple you allow the bacteria to spread across your face which means soon your one pimple will have company.
2.) Instead, your first step should be to head to the freezer for an ice pack which you should apply to the pimple every 30 minutes for at least two minutes each time. This helps shrink inflammation and swelling just like it would any other bruise or infection on your body.
3.) Now, you can take some proactive steps and try to hide your much smaller pimple with concealer. A nice light fleshy concealer will mask the pimple and keep it safely hidden from view until you can get off your face.
4.) Next, for the next few days you need to use an acne cleanser without artificial chemicals or a soft unscented soap to exfoliate your skin. Rub gently each time and use a circular pattern to help clear dead skin cells evenly off your face.
5.) Before bed, apply an acne product that contains salicylic acid or benzoyl acid to the blemish and your entire face to prevent further breakouts. For those with sensitive skin you may want to skip this step as you may over dry your skin.
6.) Try to avoid all oil based makeup products including foundation as these often clog your pores which will result in more acne breakouts or deeper inflammation. Along the same lines make sure you wash your makeup off every night with a toner.
7.) Need an even quicker solution, try a dab of toothpaste on your pimple. This helps reduce the redness of a pimple and the irritation of your skin. A tea bag or lemon juice will also help reduce swelling if held against the pimple for five minutes.
