6 Tips For Teens On How To Prevent Acne Breakouts

Teenagers are always on a constant battle against acne breakouts. These hideous skin blemishes are not only irritating but terribly embarrassing.

Just imagine walking around school and having everybody look at your face, which can already lower your self esteem. Acne breakouts are without doubt the main cause of inferiority among teenage boys and girls.

As horrible as acne breakouts can be, the truth about it is that this is something that teenagers are going to have to go through whether they like it or not.

The good news is that there are different ways of preventing acne breakouts and teenagers who follow certain tips on how to prevent it can save them a lot of discomfort in the future. Here are some tips on how to prevent acne breakouts:

1. Proper medication and treatments

The use of ointments and facial creams may help in the prevention of acne. Dermatologists recommend using creams to treat acne breakouts while others prescribe medication for treating worse cases. Antibacterial products and antibiotics are also useful in treating acne.

2. Know what foods trigger acne

Proper diet is also a factor in preventing acne from spreading. The kinds of food you eat contribute greatly to the kind of skin you have. Foods that can trigger acne breakouts include those rich in carbohydrates. Oily foods like fries and junk foods which are favorites among teenagers are also believed to cause acne. Avoiding these can help you preserve your youthful skin.

3. Keep your skin clean

Proper hygiene plays an important role in keeping acne breakouts away. The best thing for you to do is to always keep your skin clean especially those which are prone to acne like the face, back, and chest. Wash these areas thoroughly with water and mild soap or any product recommended by your dermatologist.

4. Get enough rest

Acne breakouts are also associated with lack of rest and relaxation. We all know that teenagers usually stay up late at night watching their favorite movies, hanging out with friends, or studying. The thing is you still need to get sufficient rest as your body is still developing. Sleeping at least eight hours a day can do wonders to your skin.

5. Load up on water

You must drink lots of water to avoid acne breakouts. The skin also gets thirsty and drinking around 10 glasses per day can keep your face hydrated and moisturized. Avoid alcoholic and carbonated drinks which are high in carbohydrates.

6. Keep that body moving

Exercise is also a great way to prevent acne breakouts. Having a physically fit body promotes hormonal balance and proper functioning of the body organs.

Teenagers are very curious and easily lured to the latest beauty products they see online or in television. Many of them fail to realize that each person has different skin type. Never experiment with skincare products if you value your skin. Always make it a point to consult your dermatologist for the best regimen for you to avoid acne breakouts.

I am 32 years old and have been suffering from VERY oily, acne prone skin since I was a teen. I have tried everything under the sun, proactiv, clinique, accutane, retin a, you name it I did it, but to no avail, I still had break outs and oily skin.I bought the Shielo Complexion Scrub and decided, what the heck, I have nothing to lose. My skin cleared up completely within 2 DAYS people! It’s smooth, clear, and a lot less oily. I will never use anything else again. Thank you Shielo for this face scrub!!!
